Properties of sodium

Let's learn about the properties of sodium and lithium in today's learning. Next time we will learn on phosphate formula. I hope you will enjoy today's learning.

Here are the properties of sodium and lithium:

* Lithium and sodium are light, bendable metals with ablaze white lustre. Lithium is harder than sodium.
* As sodium metal is ablaze and soft, it can be calmly cut with a knife. Freshly cut surfaces are shining, but get covered with a band of oxide or carbonate if kept in acquaintance with air. Lithium admitting harder than sodium is bendable abundant to be cut with knife.
* The densities of lithium and sodium are low (lithium = 0.634 g cm-3 sodium = 0:97 g cm3). Lithium is the lightest metal known.
* These metals accord blush to the flame, if acrimonious in the Bunsen burner. Sodium gives aureate chicken while lithium gives blood-soaked red. This is due to their low ionization energy, which makes their valence electrons get aflame to college activity levels if heated. On abiding to the arena accompaniment these elements afford black radiations in the arresting region.
* Both accept top melting and baking points.

Also you can gain a learning online on math as well as other subjects  such as Help on SAT Preparation.
